SchoolWorks was founded in 1998 by a group of passionate educators who shared a common vision for transforming education in alignment with evidence-based practices. Ownership was transitioned from original founder Ledyard McFadden to long-term President and employee Kim Perron in January of 2019.
In its early years, SchoolWorks quickly gained recognition for its innovative approach to school reviews and its commitment to personalized support for educators. The company was initially contracted by charter school authorizers and departments of education to conduct renewal site visits and district and school reviews for accountability purposes. As demand for these services grew, SchoolWorks expanded its team of consultants and broadened its range of offerings to include formative school reviews, district and network level reviews, and a variety of specialized evaluations.
By 2010, SchoolWorks had established itself as a trusted partner for schools and student-serving organizations across the country. With a focus on data-driven decision-making, the company helped a growing body of schools and districts forge improvement efforts aligned to data-informed areas of need. Its portfolio of comprehensive school improvement services expanded to include diagnostic review, needs-aligned action planning, instructional supports, leadership coaching, and progress monitoring.
In response to growing need, SchoolWorks broadened and deepened its support partnerships with charter school authorizers, operators, and school developers. With the goal of providing high-quality, affordable technical assistance at scale, the company invested in an online learning platform and launched multiple asynchronous online professional development training courses. During this time, SchoolWorks also adapted its services to meet the unique challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, providing schools with guidance and strategies for remote learning and hybrid instruction.
Today, SchoolWorks remains committed to its founding mission of empowering educational institutions to achieve their full potential. With a dedicated team of experienced consultants and a proven track record of success, the company continues to help educators use data-informed insights to develop actionable improvement initiatives. Looking ahead, SchoolWorks remains focused on innovation, collaboration, and lasting impact.
