Description
In its work supporting educational improvement, SchoolWorks is seeking an individual to manage a team of district-facing consultants deployed across multiple school systems on targeted improvement efforts. This contracted position is focused on the work of the client, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s (DESE) Statewide System of Support
(SSoS). SSoS provides assistance to districts with one or more schools categorized as requiring focused or targeted assistance, as defined by the Massachusetts Accountability System. Two Regional Assistance Teams serve the West/Central and Coastal areas of the state to support identified schools and districts. There is an expectation that the Regional Assistance Teams may have members that serve districts located in either region.
These teams provide targeted assistance through a distinct SSoS Model

Supports districts to identify clear priorities anchored in culturally responsive grade appropriate instruction and sense of belonging;
Targets support in service of those priorities with a particular focus on supporting school and district instructional leadership teams, and the adoption and implementation of high-quality instructional materials;
Coaches for Equity in order to operationalize equity and racial equity in schools and districts in the Commonwealth identified by the accountability system as requiring assistance.
The work of SSoS is grounded in DESE’s Educational Vision for supporting Culturally and Linguistically Sustaining Practices.
The Team Manager is responsible for the effective implementation of targeted assistance provided by leadership consultants on the Regional Assistance teams to produce significant improvement of outcomes for students in the lowest performing schools and districts, as identified by the new Massachusetts accountability system. The Team Manager is responsible for the effective supervision of 8 to 15 leadership consultants and carries oversight over roughly 8 to 12 districts. The Team Manager sets the workplan and time management for the leadership consultants and assumes responsibility for each leadership consultant’s performance. The Team Manager models the following competencies: student-centeredness, equity- and racial-equity focused, outcomes and results-oriented, ability to communicate and relate along lines of difference, and willingness to be a continuous learner. The Team Manager will serve as a conduit of information and planning with their team, as well as with the west/central Team Manager, the assigned SchoolWorks Project Manager(s), and DESE. The Team Manager reports to SchoolWorks Consultative Project Manager.
