School Improvement Supports

Prioritization

SchoolWorks® helps schools turn review findings into focused, high-impact action through Prioritization. Following a school review or site visit, leadership teams often face a long list of recommendations. Our prioritization process helps schools determine which improvement efforts will have the greatest impact on student learning, and where to begin.

Through a structured, collaborative planning session, SchoolWorks works with school leaders and staff to identify the most critical areas for improvement and translate them into a clear, actionable 3–6-month plan with defined strategies and measurable benchmarks.

Our Process

SchoolWorks facilitates a half-day prioritization and action-planning session with the school’s leadership team, typically immediately following a site visit or organizational review. The session may be conducted in person or virtually and typically includes school leaders, instructional leaders, and teacher representatives. During this collaborative process, the SchoolWorks facilitator guides the team through structured analysis of the review findings, helping participants identify the improvement efforts most likely to strengthen student outcomes. The session concludes with the development of a prioritized improvement roadmap and an actionable short-term plan.

Review Findings and Key Improvement Areas

The process begins with a review of the strengths and areas for improvement identified during the site visit or organizational review. This step ensures that all participants share a common understanding of the findings and the evidence that supports them.

Improvement Planning

Root Cause and Impact Analysis

Participants examine the relationships between strengths and areas for improvement to identify potential root causes affecting student learning. The team considers which areas, if addressed, would likely have the greatest impact on student achievement and school performance.

Needs-Aligned Interventions

Capacity and Resource Assessment

SchoolWorks guides the team in assessing existing capacity and available resources to determine what improvements are feasible in the near term. This includes identifying current strengths, internal resources, and areas within the school’s direct control that can be leveraged to drive progress.

Prioritization and Action Planning

Using the insights developed during the session, the team establishes a prioritized list of improvement areas ranked by impact potential. The group then develops a focused 3–6-month action plan outlining strategies, timelines, responsible parties, and benchmarks for measuring progress.
