Leadership Coaching

SchoolWorks® provides personalized leadership coaching for school leaders and leadership teams to strengthen leadership practice, support professional growth, and advance meaningful school improvement. Through a blend of in-person and virtual coaching, SchoolWorks partners with principals, instructional leaders, and executive teams to provide tailored support that helps leaders navigate challenges, refine practice, and lead change effectively.

Coaching partnerships equip leaders with practical strategies and sustained support to strengthen their effectiveness, foster a culture of excellence, and drive improved outcomes for students, staff, and schools.

Needs-Aligned Partnerships

SchoolWorks coaches work directly with school leadership teams to strengthen instructional leadership and the systems that drive consistent, high-quality instruction. Support is generally framed by a combination of in-person and virtual touchpoints and includes the following actions:

Customized Coaching Plan

SchoolWorks coaches collaborate with the school leadership team to develop a coaching plan aligned to the school's identified priority areas.

  • Review and analyze school performance data.
  • Identify specific areas for development (e.g., feedback, rigor, engagement, data use, etc.).
  • Collaboratively develop a coaching plan outlining goals, action steps, and success indicators.

Job-Embedded Coaching

Through a series of in-person coaching days, the coach works side-by-side with the school leadership team to strengthen instructional leadership and classroom practice. Activities may include:

  • Training for school administrators to build shared understanding of effective instruction, norm expectations, and establish consistent observation and feedback practices.
  • Individualized coaching for principals on instructional leadership, data use, and monitoring.
  • Observation of classrooms and SLT-led walkthroughs with real-time feedback and reflection.
  • Support for job-embedded coaching cycles and systems (observation, modeling, feedback).

Progress Monitoring

To ensure transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement, the coach and school team use a shared digital platform to document the plan, track goals, and monitor ongoing progress.  During virtual coaching check-in meetings, the coach and school team collectively update both action completion and progress toward goals.

Sustainability Planning

The coach facilitates an end-of-year progress review with school leadership to assess implementation progress and help position the school for continued improvement.  The engagement will culminate in a concise summary documenting progress, implementation status, and key considerations to support sustainability and next steps.
